Israeli Sports in Abu Dhabi
If there’s a moment in Israeli sports we’ll remember for many more years,
it’s this one: Tal Fliker, standing on the podium in Abu Dhabi, singing the
lyrics to Hatikvah when a different tune is playing in the background. The
Israeli delegation that went to the judo competition in Abu Dhabi was
forbidden from showing that they’re Israeli, and so (they) didn’t see the
Israeli flag at the competition or hear Hatikvah. But Tal Fliker and other
judoka didn’t care, they came for the sport, and to show that they can win.
And this is what happened, a very good day for Israeli judo.
