                     Danny and I are staying

We have always made fun of Danny Hershkovitz because he was
fat and allergic to all kinds of stuff. At the beginning of spring,
when all of us played soccer during the break on the grass, Danny
would stay alone in the classroom and look outside the window,
because the yellow dust of the pine trees and the flowers gave him
a rash. When we went out on a trip with the nature teacher, he
would stay in the library, and during recess he was forbidden to
exchange sandwiches with other children because he was allergic
to dairy products.

Last year, we went on a trip with the nature teacher to see the
bloom in the orchards, and the teacher told Danny that he could
stay in the library and prepare his homework in other subjects.
But he insisted on going with us and to take with him the inhaler
and all kinds of medicine and pills. Tomer, Yochai, and I teased
him and threw at him weeds and all kinds of flowers in order to
see how he starts to sneeze and how his face turns red.

We passed by the cemetery and stopped by a big puddle full of
tadpoles. Our teacher asked for silence and explained to us the
process of development of the tadpole until it turns into a frog. In
the middle she was forced to stop and scream: “Yochai, Nadav,
and Tomer, stop bothering Danny, if you have something to say,
say it to the whole class or be quiet.” And everyone looked at us
and restrained themselves from laughing.

Afterwards, the teacher took out from her bag a small net and
captured a few tadpoles and all the students passed before her and
observed them.
