Eilat for the Rich
Eilat’s southern beach, closest to Sinai, has always been a camping place
for people and families for whom hotels are too expensive, and for those
who are looking for a slightly different vacation. This week, a moment
before Pesach, the mayor decided that (anyone) who’ll sleep on the beach
will get a seven hundred and thirty NIS fine. Instead of tents, the mobile
homes are the ones that took up all the space on the beach, and mobile
home owners offer rooms in hotel prices. The travelers who wanted to go
camping on the holiday are angry and say that Eilat has become a city for
the rich only.
