The Street's Singer
On the street there is a lot of live music - classical music, South
American music, Opera and Jazz.
One of the famous singers who sings every week on the street is Miri
Aloni. Many people know Miri Aloni (who sang in Israel already in the
70’s) because she sang “A song for Peace” together with Yitzchak
Rabin RIP on the night Rabin was murdered.
Miri Aloni began to sing on Nachalat Binyamin street in 2003 because
she thinks that in Israel (they) give too little money for culture. After
she sang on the street for a few times Miri Aloni fell in love with the
people who came to hear her sing, and since then until today she sings
on Tuesdays and Fridays.
Many people who live by the street don’t like Miri and call the police
in order to stop the noise, but both the people who like to hear Miri and
Miri know that it’s already impossible to stop the music.
