UNESCO vs. Israel
Last week UNESCO published a document that talks about the Old City in
Jerusalem. The documents talks of the Al-Aqsa Mosque sacred to
Muslims, and doesn’t mention the connection of Jews and Judaism to the
Temple Mount at all. In the document, it says that the Old City is sacred to
the three religions, but it only uses the Muslim names to the Temple
Mount and ignores the site’s Jewish history. Many in Israel were angry
about the document. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that saying
Israel doesn’t have a connection to the Temple Mount and the Wailing
Wall is like saying that China doesn’t have a connection to the Chinese
Wall, or that Egypt has no connection to the Pyramids.
