Going to the Military
There isn’t a week without drama in Israel. This week there’s drama
because the Supreme Court says that the ultra-orthodox have to enlist to
the military, even if they study Torah. Eight judges think that it isn’t fair
that just the ultra-orthodox don’t enlist, and only one judge, Noam
Sohlberg, thinks that the ultra-orthodox shouldn’t enlist now. He says that
the drama in the government and on the ultra-orthodox street could be too
big, and maybe (we) should wait with it. The ultra-orthodox don’t like
what the Supreme Court says. Now they want to think about a bill that the
Supreme Court can’t rescind.
