Unit 9 – Express Your Wishes

Now that you are familiar with the person in front of
you, you’ve asked him all the basic questions, but we
still have a lot of vocabulary about food that you
haven't used yet. How can we get to it?

By using two little words…

Unit 9, Track 1 To Eat, To Drink

English PHONETIC ‫ִע ְב ִרית‬
to eat ‫ֶל ֱא ֹכל‬
to drink LE’EKHOL ‫ִל ְׁשּתֹות‬

LISHTOT

This verb will be used as in English after a word you already know,
want = ROTZE (m) / ROTZA (f)

We previously used the verb ROTZE / ROTZA when requesting food.

Let's use it in a sentence.

English PHONETIC ‫ִע ְב ִרית‬
‫ֲא ִני רֹו ֶצה‬
I want (m) ANI ROTZE
to eat toast LE'EKHOL TOST ‫ֶל ֱא ֹכל טֹו ְׁסט‬

I want (f) ANI ROTZA ‫ֲא ִני רֹו ָצה‬
to eat toast LE'EKHOL TOST ‫ֶל ֱא ֹכל טֹו ְׁסט‬

I want (m) ANI ROTZE ‫ֲא ִני רֹו ֶצה‬
to drink coke LISHTOT KOLA ‫ִל ְׁשּתֹות קֹו ָלה‬

I want (f) ANI ROTZA ‫ֲא ִני רֹו ָצה‬
‫ִל ְׁשּתֹות ָק ֶפה‬
to drink coffee LISHTOT KAFE
