I Dreamed a Dream

There were better days
People spoke with tenderness
In words of kindness
There were days of love
In a world that was woven
From songs of magic
There were days but it all has ended already

I dreamed a dream in time gone by
Hopes of my life like shining light
I dreamed of endless love
I dreamed of a forgiving God
I was very young
With dreams made from nothing
There was no ransom to be paid
A world washed with pink light
I sang a song I drank wine

But at night the tigers
In their voices rolling thunder
And they tear apart
Dreams of golden thread

In the summer he slept by my side
And back then my days had meaning
And he picked my childhood
But disappeared when autumn came
But one day
I dreamed, we will be together again
But dreams do not come true
And the heart gives in to fear

I dreamed a dream about a life
Different from the abysses of suffering
