Who Likes Cholent?
Every week on Thursday night, you can see at the Me’a She’arim
neighborhood in Jerusalem or at Bnei Brak the “Cholent Scene” – many
people, young and old, sitting and eating cholent. This custom starts with
Yeshiva boys who study all night on Thursday and need to eat to stay
awake. Today it’s already a “Glat Kosher” good time, but not just for the
ultra-orthodox. With a bit of money you can have Jewish food like kugel,
herring or cholent, and have fun until dawn.
