Item #2 (High-Intermediate Level)
The End to Schnitzel at School
The Ministry of Education announces a revolution. The end to the pitta
with chocolate (spread) at schools. As of today, it will be prohibited to sell
sugary drinks, or food with sugar like cakes, cookies and candy. Processed
food of animal and plant sources, like schnitzel and kebab will no longer
enter the school as well. And what will be allowed to sell? Whole wheat
sandwiches, with low fat cheese, humus, tahini or tuna. Even though the
Ministry of Health announced this a long time ago, the Ministry of
Education only decided to act now, and they believe this can work.
(Those) who won’t act according to the new law will get a fine. After the
whole world, maybe now here in Israel too, (they) will realize the
significance of health.
