The Virtual Band

Eden Rabin of Givatayim’s band only exists in virtual space. The
ensemble’s members live on four different continents and still they
managed to win first place in an international jazz contest in New York.
The international ensemble formed entirely by chance, after Reainaldo
from Chile became a fan of the Israeli Orphandland band, and contacted
Eden, who was one of its members then. Eden brought along two more
old friends of his whom he hasn’t seen in a long time: Eran, a drummer
living in New York and Ilia, a wind instrument player who moved to
Berlin. Today, in the Facebook age, it’s not so complicated anymore.
“You come, you compose a segment, send them the files, the drummer
records from the United States, sends it to the bass player in Chile who
sends (it) to the sax player in Germany, who bring (it) back to me. And
that’s it.” And the top is still ahead of them. The festive ceremony in
which the award will be presented to the band will be held this June in
New York, and thanks to it the ensemble’s members will finally be able
to meet in real life as well.
