The Ideal Vacation
It’s no secret that we Israelis love to have vacations abroad. The average
Israeli travels abroad between three and four times a year. So it turns out
that you wouldn’t necessarily have more fun if your vacation is longer. A
new study reveals that a number of short vacations are preferable to one
very long vacation. So what’s the duration for the ideal vacation? A new
Dutch study revealed that eight days is the duration we need in order to
detach (ourselves) from work and let go of stresses. It turns out that after
eleven days we already start to get bored, even miss home a little bit. The
study asked employees to fill out a questionnaire about two weeks before
going on vacation. The researchers wanted to check the participants’
degree of happiness, health levels, mood and energy levels every day.
From the questionnaires they received, the researchers concluded that the
peak of the vacation arrives on its eighth day. Experts say that a vacation
of this length is also supposed to prevent the difficulty or depression
involved in going back to work after it. So (they) say everything good
comes to an end; the end of the vacation comes after about eight days.
