The Regularization Law
Without the Prime Minister, but with the help of sixty fingers from
coalition members, a bill was approved tonight that would regulate
thousands of residential units built on private Palestinian ground in the
West Bank. The reactions didn’t come late. Left-wing organizations
quickly announced they would appeal to the Supreme Court; British Prime
Minister Theresa May, who conferred with Prime Minister Netanyahu only
yesterday, published a denouncement: The UK expresses (its) concern that
the regularization law will lead to a significant increase in settlements deep
in the West Bank and endanger the two state solution, we denounce the
passing of the bill that harms Israel’s position in the world. The law
opened members of The Jewish Home’s “apetite”, today Knesset Member
Smotrich threatened that if the Supreme Court quashes the regularization
law, he’ll lobby for the “overcoming clause”, a bill that will enable putting
laws into effect even if they’re quashed by the Supreme Court. Others are
demanding to push for the annexation concept. Party chairman Bennett is
already looking ahead as well. Now, his next goal is that Netanyahu
presents a new position to Trump in their meeting next week, that of the
Jewish Home of course. No more two countries for two nations, but one
country with autonomy for Palestinians.
