Lag BaOmer at Meron
Like every year, last week too a great many people go on Saturday night to
celebrate Lag BaOmer at Meron. The celebration is at the tomb of Rabbi
Simeon bar Yochai, who believers say he writes the Zohar book from the
Kabbalah. At Meron (you) hear two languages mostly, Hebrew and
Yiddish, because a lot of the people who come are ultra-orthodox. It’s a
spiritual and mystical experience that’s hard to understand if you’re not
there, but along with all the mysticism (you) have to remember that we’re
still in Israel, and the spinners that are driving the country crazy get there
too.
