History

In 1908 Jewish people start selling things in the market with

the Arabs. Many people come to buy and eat there, so the

market is very dirty. Only in 1980 comes Teddy Kollek, the

mayor of Jerusalem, and wants to clean up the market.

He receives a lot of money from the “Jerusalem Foundation”

and they re-built the market.

Today the market is clean and tidy, and many tourists and

Israelis come to buy there.

There are people saying that the market in Jerusalem is the

most special market in the world!
