Who Reads Nowadays?
We usually hear that today’s kids don’t read enough books, but nine year
old Tamar, Hillel and Talia and seven year old Ilay, broke a record when
together they read five hundred and fifty one books this year. In honor of
Book Week, they met the children’s author Yanetz Levi. About eight
million books were sold in Israel last year, and seven thousand and seven
hundred new books were published. On Book Week smartphones move
aside a little, and (those) who get the focus are words, pages and books.
The reading champions will get certificates next week in a ceremony in
Yafo.
