Accomplished bass player Mike Boone is a well-
recognized fixture in the Philadelphia music scene. He
has worked with such renown jazz artists as Joey
Defrancesco, Ben Vereen, Buddy Rich, Leslie Uggams,
and John Swana, and more! Boone has mentored
countless young jazz players through their formative
years. He shared the stage at CCJF with drumming
prodigy Mekhi Boone – who also happens to be his 12-
year-old son. Mekhi also plays piano, trumpet, electric
bass, upright bass, and electric guitar, but the drums
are his preferred instrument.
