“Gone”
Happy summer, readers! For ION Indie Magazine, the summer signals festivals! For this July/August
2018 expanded edition of ION Indie Magazine, all eyes turn to North Carolina and THE festival of
the summer…CAROLINA REBELLION! We invite you to come along and experience the sights and
surf the crowd through the lens of Mark Myers. Some of you may remember Mark and his many
memorable live concert images that he previously brought our pages. Mark is returning to the staff
of ION to once again bring us his stellar photography -- along with lending his design talent as Co-
Art Director of ION Indie Magazine. Mark is back with a “bang” with Carolina Rebellion images plus
an intriguing interview with Gary Spivack, Vice President of Festival Talent for Danny Wimmer
Presents, the organizer of this popular multi-day event. Welcome home, Mark…we left the light
on for you!
And our ION family continues to expand! We are also welcoming to our journalistic staff, photojournalists Greg Logan
(New York), Karen Moor eside (California), and Michael Rushton (Texas). We are thrilled to have them aboard! Greg debuts
in this issue with his photos of the sizzling singer-songwriter, guitarist extraordinaire, Jackie Venson, along with incredible
images of those raucous rockers, Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown. Michael Rushton delivered unto us both the iconic English
electronic group DEPECHE MODE and new age instrumentalist YANNI – who is on a world tour celebrating the 25th
anniversary of his notable “Live At The Acropolis” concert! And be looking for Karen’s photography in the next edition of
ION. A staple in the venues on the Sunset Strip, no doubt that Karen will have many high-energy images to share with the
readers of ION Indie Magazine!
You are listening to the “down and dirty” rock and roll music of Red Sky Mary and their song “Gone,” which is streaming
with this “Letter from the Editor.” Red Sky Mary is an alumni of ION Indie Magazine’s cover (September 2015/Mark Myers),
and it is my prediction that these powerhouses of rock will be fueling the mosh pits and crowd-surfers at the top festivals
across the U.S in the very near future. Check out these bad-to-the-bone rockers at their website www.redskymary.com.
Remember that name…RED SKY MARY!
