LETTER Music by Black Water Greed “Walk Away”
By Editor-in-Chief Kiki Plesha From the Editor
Happy Fall! I, for one, welcome the respite from the humidity that has produced more than a
few “bad hair days” for this now Atlanta-based fairy. Though the weather may be cooling down,
at ION Indie Magazine, we will continue to bring the hottest in newsworthy independent music
to our readers. As I have moved 20 times in my life, I’ve had the ability to experience the best
and worst of climates that the U.S. has to offer -- from the blizzards of Chicago to the hurricanes
of New Orleans and more than a few dust storms in Arizona. But an advantage to being on the
move as I’ve been, is that I have had the unique opportunity to immerse myself in a variety of
regional music scenes – which inspired me to launch ION INDIE MAGAZINE, now in its 5 year
th
of publication celebrating music of ALL genres, worldwide. I thank you for your support and for
taking the time to peruse these pages…and for making ION the fastest growing all-genre
independent music publication today!
This end-of-year edition of ION Indie Magazine spotlights alternative country artist CHRIS MORENO. Recently, ION Journalist
ERIKA CANNAVINO sat down with Moreno at The Goat in Portsmouth, NH, and conducted a candid interview with this talented
singer/songwriter. Senior Photojournalist DANIEL JOHNSON was behind the lens for this feature story. Learn more about
Chris Moreno inside these pages!
In this issue, Photojournalist GREG HILD turned his talented lens to the iconic venue RED ROCKS in colorful Colorado,
bringing us captivating coverage of the gorgeous scenery as well as dynamic images of the popular group THE STRING
CHEESE INCIDENT, along with support act THE MAIN SQUEEZE. Check it out!
We’ve had a few recognizable names stop by in this edition of ION…the world-renown band STYX is featured in a show review,
along with enticing exclusive photography by MARTY HAVIIK. Also, c/o Daniel Johnson, we have images of such notable
groups as BUSH and STONE TEMPLE PILOTS.
And, as always, we have some of the most interesting independent artists and bands today! Speaking of indie talent,
streaming during this Letter from the Editor is the song “Walk Away” by the band BLACK WATER GREED. The song has
garnered over 1 million views on YouTube! You can look forward to learning more about this exceptional rock band in our next
edition of ION Indie Magazine. Meanwhile, discover more about Black Water Greed on ReverbNation at
