Several notable performances by the Grateful Dead have also made Red Rocks a favorite destination for bands
in the jam-band scene. Among them are Colorado natives The String Cheese Incident. Formed in 1993, the
group established a grass-roots following, playing local venues and ski lodges over many years. By 2006, they
were playing on the stage of Red Rocks and would return regularly in the years that followed. In the past 4
years, String Cheese Incident – also going by “SCI” – would book multiple-night runs each year with majority
of the seats always being filled between those towering red monoliths. Back in July, their 3-night run packed
Red Rocks with a mountain-load of fans, both Coloradoan and from around the country.
