ION asked how Dabin found his own sound
which sets him apart from other EDM artists.
he explained, “I spent years learning how to
produce…I simply brought back all the
elements of things that drew me to music in
the first place. I grew up listening to a lot of
indie rock and acoustic music, so it was only
a matter of time before those influences
seeped into the music I am creating today.”
Dabin draws inspiration not just from music,
but also from Japanese animation movies. “I
loved their use of masks in 'Princess
Mononke' and ‘Spirited Away,'” Dabin wrote.
When creating his second album “Wild
Youth,” he decided to create a symbol that
would both represent his music and serve as
a persona. Influenced by the work of Studio
Ghibli, a Japanese animation studio, Dabin
created the mask logo which has made its
way onto all his merchandise, including face
masks.
