As the pyrotechnics blazed, the heat radiated into the nearly sold-out crowd at the Xfinity Center in
Mansfield, Massachusetts. Sully Erna delivered a powerful performance of 1000hp, a song detailing
the story of the band’s journey to stardom. With each verse, the crowd’s energy intensified, creating
an electric atmosphere at Godsmack’s hometown show on their 2023 tour.
In the late 1990s, Godsmack gained popularity with their self-titled debut album. Released in 1998,
the album featured hits like Whatever and Voodoo. The album’s success helped them establish a
fanbase as they climbed the mainstream rock charts with Erna’s vocal style adding to the band’s
distinct sound.
Godsmack’s subsequent
albums, “Awake” (2000)
and Faceless (2003),
continued to showcase their
signature hard-hitting
sound. Songs like, Awake, I
Stand Alone, and Straight
Out of Line, further
solidified their position as
one of the leading acts in
the post-grunge and nu-
metal genres.
The band continued to
release successful albums
like “IV” (2006), “The
Oracle” (2010), “1000hp”
(2014), and “When
Legends Rise “(2018).
Their most recent album,
“Lighting Up the Sky”
(2023), premiered at
number nineteen on the US
Billboard 200 and #1 on the
US Top Hard Rock Albums’
chart.
