In 2008, the band faced a significant challenge with the death of LeRoi
Moore due to complications from an ATV accident. Jeff Coffin, a saxophonist
from Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, stepped in as a permanent
replacement, and the band continued to tour and record new material.
Despite changes in their lineup and the challenges of the evolving
music industry, DMB has remained a powerful force in the world
of rock music. They are known for their extensive touring schedule
and a dedicated fan base that has followed them across the world
for decades. ION Indie Magazine ran into concert goers who have
been to 79 Dave Matthews Band concerts in their lifetime!
Albums such as “Big Whiskey & the
GrooGrux King” (2009), “Away from the
World” (2012), and “Come Tomorrow” (2018)
have continued to showcase their ability to
innovate while staying true to their roots.
