MH: 2020 has been a challenging year for everyone. Especially in the music community.
How has the pandemic changed your life?

AW: This has been the first year in 4 years that I haven't toured, and the first year in 8 years
where I haven't played a live show. That is crazy to think about. It definitely emphasizes the
importance of the person-to-person connection, as my fans have expressed how desperate
they are to see me live and how sad they are that I haven't played a show. It's done
some damage that way, but it has also provided me an opportunity to produce new music and
music videos, which I usually don't have as much time for due to the demands of shows and
touring. So, I find the blessings where I can and say thank goodness that I can still make music
and do what I love. I know a lot of people are not able to say that after the way this year has
been, so I am extremely lucky that I can.

MH: Where do you see yourself in the next couple years? Any special long-term goals in
              the back of your mind?

AW: I've learned over the years that we can have targets, but always be flexible because life
changes so quickly and often. Ideally, I'd love to see my fan community continue to grow and
have more opportunities to book tours and play more shows for them. My international family
has been growing too, so I'd love to be able to explore some opportunities to go across borders
and play for them as well. In the next couple years, I'd like to have more recognition on FM radio
and have songs on regular rotation, as well as placed in film. There's so many goals and paths
I'd love to explore with my music, but I know that as long as I have my fans who will support me
by downloading/streaming my music, buying my merchandise, and coming out to shows, I will
be just fine and get to where I need to be going.

MH: Ashley, I could talk with you forever, but we must cut it here. Otherwise, you would
have a whole ION Indie Magazine issue for yourself. Any last inspiring words to our
              readers?

AW: Would that be so bad? Ha, ha, I tease! My final words to anyone reading this are, of course,
thank you for taking the time to learn more about me and the work that I am doing. I greatly
appreciate it. Also, may you walk with sunshine in your pocket and remember that you always
have it within yourself to make any day, situation, work, and, of course, yourself, brighter.

MH: Thank you Ashley for sharing a little bit about you and your inspiring musical
journey. It was so good talking with you again. We’ll chat soon!
