MW: Had you had much chance to rehearse before that gig?
LC: We managed to get some practice time in, yes.
MW: What have been the highlights of your career so far?
LC: Playing the O2 Academy (Leeds, Sheffield, and Islington), playing
with Mungo Jerry (Ray Dorset borrowed my amp because his blew up
in the soundcheck), and playing The 100 Club in London.
MW: What was Ray Dorset like?
LC: Really nice! He let us share his dressing room and you never
usually get that…ha, ha! The gig was brilliant! He’s still rocking and the
band was great. He left my Marshall on 10 it doesn’t usually go past 3
or 4.
MW: Yeah, I always got the impression he was a nice geezer. By
the way, I noticed that you play Fender and Gibson. Which do
you prefer? Or does it depend on the song you're playing?
LC: The Gibson is new/old to me. That is, new to me, but it was made
in 1997. It's a Les Paul Special, so I’m playing that the most at the
minute and the sound is amazing! But I also love my Fender, and yes,
that is suited better to some of our songs such as ‘What Are You Doing
It For.’
MW: How would you briefly sum up your sound?
LC: Rock, plug in and play. No tricks.
MW: Cheers, Loz! Always a pleasure to catch up with you.
