The last time I was invited to Southern
Arizona’s largest and colorful music festival
was back in 2019. It was majestic back then
and it was equally fabulous this year. 7 years in
and this festival is still bigger than ever!
A short run down…Dusk Music Festival is an
annual music and arts festival held in Tucson
that showcases internationally known musical
artists, as well as local artists from Arizona.
This year it was right smack in the middle of
downtown Tucson. Personal opinion? Great
location! It was founded in 2016 by Steve
Stratigouleas, John Rallis, Page Repp, and
Pete Turner.
This music festival features many genres of
music, including rock, indie, hip hop, and
electronic dance music, as well as art
booths and sculptures. Other activities include
beer/drink vendors and local food booths. Food
is served exclusively by local Tucson
restaurants. Three Dusk Stages hosts live
music throughout the day. This year it was the
Discover stage for local performing artists, the
Presidio stage for up-and-coming touring
artists, and the Alameda stage for national acts
such as bands, DJs, and other entertainers.
This two-day festival included some of my
favorite new artists performing along with local
artists from Arizona. Once again, the air had a
mixture of Carne Asada and Mary Jane
lingering. Lots of friendly people were eager to
get their picture taken and security was very
serious! I did get a chance to talk to a police
officer…super friendly…and also a security
staff member. We talked throughout the night
every time I came around his area.
