Music by London Lawhon “Locked Up”
This March/April 2018 of ION Indie Magazine shines a spotlight on the California-based Pop/Punk
band The Dollyrots! The host of our syndicated radio show “Eye On Jamz,” Sheldon Snow, took a
leap of faith and forged into print journalism, conducting his first ever magazine interview – and a
feature one, at that! Learn all about The Dollyrots and their indelible DIY spirit in these pages!
In other “Eye On Jamz” news, Sheldon named the Columbus, Ohio band Zoo Trippin his show’s “Band
of the Year,” recognizing the group for their exceptional music and the strides they are making in
their career as independent artists. Zoo Trippin has graced the cover of ION Indie Magazine…so we
concur with Sheldon’s excellent taste!
We are saying a fond farewell to our Senior Photojournalist from “across the pond” Graham Whittington and are wishing
him the best on his recent retirement. Graham will be hanging up his media lens – but remain a dear friend and a member
of the ION family. Godspeed, Graham, and don’t be a stranger! Your dynamic contributions to ION are appreciated!
This edition of ION Indie Magazine is an expanded one, as this is the first year that we were an invited member of the press
at the NAMM convention in California. Photojournalist Marty Haviik represented this publication at the much sought-after
gathering and served as the eyes of ION in Anaheim. Check out his exceptional photography and follow along with Marty as
he immersed himself in the latest and greatest in music gear and technology and mingled with some recognizable names in
music entertainment. You are invited! No badge required!
By the way – the voracious vocals that accompany this “Letter from the Editor” are provided by the lovely London Lawhon,
the “Pop Pride of Texas” with her song “Locked Up.” No doubt you’ll be as enchanted by this talented songstress as this
Editor. London has a voice as big as her home state…and it is one that is deserving to be heard far beyond The Lone Star
State’s borders! Learn more about London at www.londonlawhonmusic.com
