Dennis Ledbetter calls his style of music "unapologetically country,” and I certainly
would have to agree. In a world where country music is now so divided amongst the
mainstream pop "bro" country versus the traditional hardcore honky tonk, Dennis
takes the high road and refuses to compromise his sound.
For his newest release on Saint and Sinner Records, recorded in Nashville
Tennessee, "Opposite Walls,” Dennis takes us on a musical journey with his
distinctive whiskey drenched voice. In this 12-song collection, you will be hard
pressed not to listen carefully, and I dare say, relate to many of the songs. To put it
simply, it's people put to music.
For those who are familiar with hard core country,
all the pieces are here; from the heartache in his
voice, to the crying steel guitar, along with fiddle
and lead guitar.
Of course, no self-respecting country album would
be complete without a cheatin’ song or two and
songs of love and redemption. If you miss the
heart and soul of real country music in voices like
George Jones, Merle Haggard, Gene Watson, and
Lefty Frizzell, you’re going to love Dennis
Ledbetter.
