It’s 1984, and I just left the Ticketmaster
located on the third floor behind the vacuum
cleaners at J.C. Penney's. I had secured
my ticket for the Judas Priest show tonight!
I raced home and grabbed the hose to
wash my Camaro and polish up my new
Cragar rims. I shower and then cut the
sleeves off and put a few heavy metal rips
in my new Judas Priest shirt, which I scored
at the iron on shop at the mall today. I
squeeze into my tightest pair of black
zippered parachute pants and finish off with
a final spray of Aqua Net “extra hold” in the
pink can for my very long jet-black hair. A
few bandanas tied to my wrist, and it’s time
to go! I climb into my car and slide my Judas
Priest cassette tape in and hit fast-forward
to get to my favorite song. The tabs are
worn out and it fast-forwards all the way to
the end of side “A.” Out comes the trusty #2
pencil. Thirty spins to the left and the tape
is in the perfect place. Tonight, will be epic!
