Obituary
On Monday, May 4, 2020, the Lord issued the clarion call for our beloved Aulysse Medy Paul
to come home, and he graciously accepted. The Lord dispatched his angels to escort him into
rest in the arms of his creator. Aulysse Medy Paul, affectionately referred to as Paul, was born
on March 30, 1974 in Port-au -Prince, Haiti. He was one of two children born to the late Isaac
Pierre Paul and Irana Medy.
Paul attended George Washington High School in Neptune, New Jersey, graduating in1992.
Shortly upon graduation, he worked at the Maplewood Country Club, where he honed his
hospitality skills. Paul was always a hard worker and very ambitious. While at Maplewood
Country Club he perused a job at NJ TRANSIT. Aulysse Paul was hired part-time in 2001,
nearly 20 years ago. In 2005, he took on a full-time position as a Trackman in the Rail
Infrastructure Engineering Track Department and in 2011 he became a Roving Bridge
Operator, working in various locations, including Hoboken Terminal, HX Tower, and Upper
Hack Bridge. Paul was also an Executive Protection/Bodyguard, Security Officer at O.P.S
Event Security and Promotion, and Armed Security Guard at SecTek and SEB Security.
Paul loved music and performing. In the music arena, he was known as Lil Paul Olis, a
defiant play on words. There was nothing “lil” about Paul. He was not only big in stature but in
generosity. He was known for his hit, “I Want to Know” from Rise of the Phoenix featuring Edjy
Beatz and "From Ashes to A Phoenix: Run Around the Club" featuring Thomas Bakenson.
On August 14, 2015, Paul married his high school sweetheart Murielle Gabriel. The two were
inseparable. They shared a wonderful love story that ended unexpectedly and way too soon;
leaving behind great memories and a rich history.
Paul is preceded in death by his father Isaac Pierre Paul. He will forever be remembered by
his wife Murielle Paul of Monroe, NJ; mother Irana Medy; mother-in-law Occile Gabriel; sibling
Joel Paul and his wife Kethly Gilbert-Paul; niece and nephew Kasey and Jeremiah Paul;
Godson and nephew Jason Paul; Goddaughter Miranda Gilbert; sisters-in-law Kathy Gabriel
and Marie Sullivan; brother-in-law Michael Sullivan; Cousin Nesly Dorcely-who was like a
brother to Paul and his best friend; and countless family and friends who were blessed to know
him.
Paul will forever be remembered for his love for family, kind nature and infectious smile. Paul
would never end a conversation without professing his love for you; we will forever hold you in
our hearts. “Paul, we love you too!”
