Making Batik Mega Mendung with Grandma
In a small village, there is a boy named Andi. Andi is always

impressed by the beauty of the batik that his grandmother
often wears. Every time his grandmother wears batik, Andi

wonder how the batik is made. Until one day, his grandmother
invited Andi to learn to make Mega Mendung batik with her.

The first step was to prepare the necessary tools and
materials. Andi's grandmother explained that they needed

cotton cloth, hot candles, canting, and blue and white textile
dyes. They also needed the Mega Mendung motif pattern that

they have already drawn before.

Once the cotton cloth is ready, the next step is to prepare
the hot candle. Andi's grandmother melts the candle in a
special pan and puts the canting into the hot candle. Andi

was interested to see her grandmother using the canting very

carefully to drag the hot candle according to the Mega
Mendung motif pattern that had been determined.

After the Mega Mendung motif has been applied with the
candle, they let the cloth dry for a while. Then, Andi and her

grandmother brought the cloth to dip it in blue dye. They
stirred the cloth slowly, making sure the dye soaked perfectly

into the fibers of the cloth.
After achieving the desired blue color, they remove the

cloth from the dye and let it dry in the sun. Once the cloth is
completely dry, Andi and her grandmother take the cloth to a

stream of water to wash the candles off the cloth. The running

water removes the candles and leaves behind the beautiful
Mega Mendung motif.
When the cloth is clean from the candles, Andi and her

grandmother arrange the batik cloth. Andi was very happy to

learn how to make batik with her grandmother.
