LAST LIFT BY EMILY GRIFFITH, MEMBER SERVICES DIRECTOR National Safety Poster Contest Winners Emphasize Respect he 2013-14 winners of NSAA’s 15th annual TNational Kids’ Safety Poster Contest are Corwin Jeffrey Belnap, age 12, whose home resort is Pebble Creek Ski Area in Idaho, and Jenna Morrison, age 7, represent- ing Blue Mountain Ski Area in Pennsylvania. NSAA receives hundreds of entries from resorts across the nation each year in this highly popular (and, yes, adorable) competition. The contest targets fourth-, fifth-, and sixth-graders, but any elementary student can participate—and many do. Belnap’s poster won Best Best Overall Safety Message by Jeffrey Belnap, 12, Overall Safety Message. He representing Pebble Creek Ski Area, Idaho started skiing with a school ski program and quickly became hooked on the sport. He and his brothers and sister all ski. Their mom grew up snowboarding and encouraged her children to get up on the mountain. Belnap says his favorite thing about skiing is “learning new skills and trying out new runs.” Morrison’s poster earned Most Creative Design. She encourages others to get involved with snowsports by telling them to “try skiing or snowboard- ing just for the fun of it,” add- ing, sagely: “There is nothing to lose but missing out on a good time.” Morrison was 6½ when she started skiing and says she is Most Creative Design by Jenna Morrison, 7, looking forward to getting on a representing Blue Mountain Ski Area, Pennsylvania snowboard next season.
