Types of algae

Blue green algae (including spirulina).
Red algae
Brown algae
Advantages of algae

        • It contains high amounts of simple and complex carbohydrates which provide the body with
a source of energy. In particular, the sulfated complex carbohydrates are thought to enhance
            the immune system's regulatory response.

        • It contains an extensive fatty acid profile, including Omega 3 and Omega 6. These
essential fatty acids also play a key role in the production of energy.

        • It has an abundance of vitamins, minerals, and trace elements.
        • Microalgae may serve as a continuous and reliable source of antioxidants, because they can

be cultivated on a large scale. Furthermore, the qualities of the microalgal cells can be
controlled, so that they contain no herbicides and pesticides, or any other toxic substance.
        • Algae grow fast in the sea.
        • Algae do not compete with agriculture.
        • Purify waterwaste.
        • Algae can give high biofuel yield.

Disadvantages of algae

                 1. Costly
                 2. Can cause fish kill and contamination
