in dilute acetic acid with effervescence. Other reactions resemble the
oxalates.

3. Silica:

       It occurs as incrustation of cell wall e.g. diatoms or as masses in
the cell e.g. cells of sclerenchymatous layer of cardamom. It is insoluble
in all acids except hydrofluoric acid.
