Advantages of the LAL test

 The FDA has approved four variations of the LAL
test: gel-clot, turbidimetric, colorimetric, and
chromogenic assay.
 The test is fast (approximately 30 minutes).
 The test is highly sensitive (LOD : 0.005 EU/mL).
 However, because it only detects LPS endotoxins,
some pyrogenic materials can be missed.
