Types of Chemical markers

I. Loss on drying (Gravimetric
determination)

• a – dry in an oven at 100 – 105 ºc to constant
• weight or until two successive weighing do not differ by

more than 5 mg.

• Used for thermo stable drugs (constituents) and drugs
do not contain volatile materials.

• eg: aloes, acacia, starches…….
