• When vegetable drugs are incinerated, they leave an
inorganic ash containing the elements:
• Na, K, Mg, Fe, B, Si, P, S, O, N, & Cl.
Ash values
• Total ash
• Sulphated ash
• Acid – insoluble ash
• Water – soluble ash
