Key Points for Constipation ……
• Glycerin suppositories or stimulant laxatives provide
faster relief, if needed.
• Therapy with any laxative product should be limited to 7
days, unless supervised by a health care provider.
• If rectal bleeding occurs at any time during use of a
laxative, or if constipation persists in spite of therapy,
patients should stop using the laxative and consult their
health care provider.
• To reduce the potential for drug interactions, patients
should avoid taking most laxatives within 2 hours of other
medications
