Nebulizers better or not?
• They are cumbersome to use
• Better clinical outcome (the variation in drug delivery in
terms of particle size, nebulisation time and drug output)
• AS effective as multiple actuations of a MDI via a spacer
in adult asthmatics
• The purchase of a compressor should be referred to
either the patient's GP or hospital consultant for
assessment before prescribing.
• Nebulisers do, however, have a place in the acute
management of severe asthma.
