Definitions

• Plasmid: a circular extrachromosomal element found naturally in
  bacteria and some other organisms.
  The most important aspect of plasmid in term of genetic
  engineering is its capability to replicate with foreign DNA
  inserted into it.

• Vector: a DNA molecule that is capable of replication in a host
  organism.

• Transgenic: an organism that carries DNA sequences that it
  would not normally has in its genome.
