Gibberellin Biosynthesis

• Gibberellins are diterpenes synthesized from acetyl CoA
via the mevalonic acid pathway.

• Gibberellins are believed to be synthesized in the young
tissues of the shoot, seed and leaves.

• The growth effect of gibberellins and auxins is
complementary.

• As auxins, gibberellins…deactivated form,
• β – D – glucopyranosyl esters of GA1 , GA2 , GA3……
