• X-chromosome in certain cells creates a population of G6PD deficient red
cells coexisting with normal red cells

   Objectives:
By the end of this chapter, students should
   1) Develop an integrated and clear understanding of the correlation

between structure and function of different cell organelles and
       membranes
   2) Describe the molecular structure and function of the essential
biomolecules in the human body (carbohydrates, lipids, proteins and
       porphyrin).
   3) Correlate the structure of biomolecules and their biological function
   4) Comprehend the biochemical basis of drug action in view of
structure and function of basic macromolecules present in our
       bodies.
