Theories for Enzyme Specificity
The lock and key theory:
o The active site of enzyme is complementary to the substrate so that

enzyme and substrate recognizes each other.

The induced fit theory:
o The enzyme changes shape upon binding to substrate so that

conformation of enzyme and substrate are only complementary after
the binding reaction
