However, there are some molecules (e.g. essential fatty
acids) that cannot be synthesized within the body and
must be obtained through diet.
Omega-3 Fatty Acids: (n-3)
Polyunsaturated fatty acids that have their first double
bond on the 3rd carbon from the methyl end (-CH3).
For example: Alpha-linolenic acid (ALA)
-Found in oily fish.
-Has 18 carbons.
-Has three double bonds, with its first double bond on the
3rd carbon from the methyl end.
