Beverage Division Sales Manager
of IX Water, Roger Whitehouse,
looks beyond the sustainability
claims of the filtration industry
Sustainability is now a central part of the
conversation across the coffee and
hospitality industries. Whether it is
sourcing coffee responsibly, reducing
waste in cafés, or lowering energy
consumption, businesses are increasingly
aware of the impact they have and the
choices they make.
Water is no exception.
Over the past few years many cafés and
coffee businesses have moved away from
buying bottled water and instead rely on
filtration systems installed on site. On the
face of it, this seems like a clear
improvement. Filtering water locally
removes the need for transport, reduces
packaging, and eliminates the huge
number of plastic bottles that would
otherwise be used.
Because of this, water filtration has
developed a reputation as the
sustainable option.
