  EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
East Central Catholic School District has undergone a tremendous transformation in technology infrastructure over the last five years. There has been a shift from a locally supported open source Ethernet network environment to an enterprise Microsoft wireless network environment that is supported by two local technicians and an external IT consulting firm (Solut).
The school district has also just begun the integration of a web-based SIS (PowerSchool) platform and NEC VOIP telephone system. The organization is dealing with significant changes when it comes to the integration and alignment of the technology infrastructure to daily practices within the organization.
East Central Catholic is approaching the “perfect storm” in that a majority of the technology infrastructure implemented over the last five years is coming to the “end of life-cycle" and will require an equipment refresh to avoid hardware failure and service disruptions. The external IT consulting firm, Solut, is in the process of developing a summer work plan for the school district that would include ever-greening 12 Dell PowerEdge servers across the organization.
Jason Grilo, NOC Manager at Solut has suggested reviewing the possibility of a cloud-hosting migration plan instead of replacing the local server equipment at the central office and the schools.
The superintendent of schools, Mr. Charlie McCormack, has contracted IT-ET Shift Happens consulting services to review the Solut Microsoft server cloud-hosted migration proposal to ensure the proposed transition is feasible, scalable, future proof, and aligned to the existing and anticipated workflows within the school district.
