Finally, I am so grateful for those friends and family who have chosen to stand with me, the
protesters, and/or with BLM altogether in the struggle for racial justice. It is definitely not
easy and takes courage, self-reflection, perseverance, and strength.
Real talk, though: I have to admit that I am so incredibly disappointed in those that choose to
continue to deny, criticize, downplay, and remain silent about the critical issue of systemic ra-
cial violence and who are comfortable in their complicity.
And it takes a huge level of complicity to continue to demonize BLM and the protesters
fighting for racial justice while remaining conspicuously silent about the countless acts of ra-
cial aggression and violence perpetrated by white male terrorists, including law enforcement.
It is disgusting to hear some of these same people applauding white terrorist individuals and
militia groups ‘protesting’ Stay at Home orders while waiving Confederate flags and Nazi sym-
bols as they demonize people like Kapernick and other peaceful black protestors. The hypocri-
sy is suffocating.
I bet George Floyd and Ahmad Arbery and Breonna Taylor and countless other innocent black
people committing the heinous crime of Living While Black would have preferred not to get
“caught up in the craziness”. Hearing things like this triggers both anger and depression and it
challenges my barely gained sense of hope for others and for our country. What is wrong with
people?!
