server room; don't put datacenter in

• Have emergency power off (EPO).
• Blackout – prolonged loss of
commercial power.
• Fault – a momentary loss of power.
• Brownout – reduction of voltage by
the utility company for a prolonged
period.
• Sag/Dip – short period of low voltage.
• Surge – sudden rise (not as sharp as
a spike).
• Transients – line noise that causes
fluctuation in power.
• Inrush current – an initial surge of
current when there is an increase in
power demand.
• Electrostatic discharge – static
electricity.
• Noise – EMI & Radio Frequency
Interference (RFI).
• Countermeasures – backup
generators and UPS (most have both
because generator takes a while to
