ABOUT THE INSTITUTE FOR STUDY ABROAD
About IFSA
Founded in 1988 on the campus of Butler University, IFSA (Institute for Study Abroad) has become a pioneer in high-quality
international education practices. Now an independent, nonprofit organization, we continue the tradition of academic
excellence in 19 countries around the world. IFSA creates global learning environments designed to foster the development
of critical perspectives, knowledge, and skills essential for students to thrive in the future. Through a meaningful and
lifelong impact on students, our programs cultivate informed, engaged individuals who leverage their global experiences to
enrich their lives and the world. As an organization, we are committed to:
- Inclusive Excellence: We work with universities to develop programs targeted at non-traditional groups,
emphasizing access for diverse age groups, students of color, first-generation students, and community college
students.
- Individualized Learning: We maximize the potential for learning by identifying and arranging unique on-site
experiences for students who have self-selected a custom program based on their own individual goals and
academic path.
- Intercultural Agility: Embracing a new culture can be a life-altering experience, but it is not something that always
comes naturally. IFSA on-site staff help close the gap between your students and their new surroundings.
- Enduring Impact: We strive to help you prepare your students for their lives as well as their careers, to maximize
the impact of the experience, and promote intellectual and personal development which will benefit them
throughout their lives.
Proud of our long history of creating incredible experiences and deep professional networks, we use these experiences to
fuel our future. We refuse to be complacent with past successes, so we continue to innovate, evolve, and expand. As a
result, we deliver the best study abroad programs with integrated academic guidance to shape a better world, one student
at a time. IFSA is your partner in their future.

Flagships are distinguished by their diverse activities, shared programming and interconnectedness, which offers students,
faculty and university partners wide access to IFSA resources around the world while continuing to reflect the unique nature
of each location. Technology at each site creates a virtual community of learning around the globe by connecting students
and visiting faculty to IFSA?s expansive network of universities, scholars, professionals, organizations, and local community
members. Visiting faculty are welcome to leverage this technology to connect students with their own colleagues and
