ACADEMICS AND SPORTS GO HAND IN HAND IN BUILDING UP A
CHILD’S PERSONALITY :-
“ The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to
think critically. Intelligence plus character- that is the goal of true
education.” --- Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
The role and goal of education has been an important subject of discussion
by various educationists in every era. With the evolution of man, parenting
and education got greater meaning than just giving birth and sustaining life.
Just like a flower, a child needs the soil of education to bloom into its full
potential; calling the need of bringing both education and sports as a
common ground to let the child stand firmly upon. According to the popular
saying ,”All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.” Academic learning
and sports complement each other. They resemble the two sides of the
same coin. When carried out in tandem with each other, they augment the
overall personality of the students, imbibing the qualities of leadership,
time- management, confidence, decision-making, team-spirit, sharing,
determination and tolerance. Sports and education makes the complete
package of life lessons. It is a great combination of the physical and
cerebral development, setting one towards strengthening the body and
mind. The importance of merging sports and education in the life of a
young student is invaluable and goes much further than the basic answer
that “It keeps a kid off the streets.” It does keep them away from the
unnecessary things, but it also instils the lessons that are essential for a
child to blossom into its potential.
A youth with discipline, responsibility, sacrifice, confidence and in-tune with
self is an asset to the world around and that is the true call of a good
education. Experiencing life beyond books and the way to lead that life is
the result of an overall education through academics and sports. When we
look towards the overall development of a being, we always follow the
formula of “A healthy brain needs a healthy body.” Its here that we put
emphasis upon merging the academics with sports to let our children be
global citizens, walking and working towards the greater cause of One and
All.
